Sea Clipper (voyager to distant shores)

Due to commitments in other endeavors, there was a   tendency to do little videos of compositions  rather than recording them to get them into the  social   media. The original composition was written  about a year ago and performed on a phone  camera (see  you tube clip)I have had enough spare  time to record it now with the extra backing that I  wanted to enhance the tune.

The composition is primarily done in the key of  A major, though from the perspective of  the use of the D Lydian mode which dominates the melodies throughout. The synths follow the cord progressions except when it has the major, minor and diminished 7-5  tapped arpeggios, the sythns follow the 7ths rather than the cords.

This composition was inspired by the Peter Aughton book
"Voyages that changed the world". The book charts the history of discovery on the seas. These type of books always appeal to me, and I have a collection of similar books by my beside for late night reading.

Playing Sea Clipper live at Base Stourbridge, one of several occasions that I performed the tune in 2013.
